Some Chive Chapters have GONE above and beyond the call of duty doing incredible work and being generally awesome. We designate these chapters as Bona Fide - a title for those doing big things in their neck of the woods and representing what theCHIVE is and what it’s can to become.
When Houston Chivers throw parties, we can expect two things. The first is that they are MASSIVE. Hundreds of people pack into their parties and cut loose. THE Second Houston Chivers generosity is just as big. threw a meetup for the Cobb family and their foundation, the JuCan Foundation, which supports families with children suffering from cancer in December of 2011 Together they raised over $9,000.
Denver Chive was the first chapter to raise over $10,000 for Chive Charities through an unofficial meetup (over $14,000, actually). We’ve held two meetups in Denver with them and every time we see pictures from their parties we have to stop ourselves from buying plane tickets to go tie one off. Denver Chive is a great example of our goal of taking our online community offline, connecting in person and meeting new people.
We first caught wind of theCHIVE Maryland in June of 2013 when they completely blew the roof off of Chive Nation’s charity donation record with a whopping $22,000 for the SPCA of Anne Arundel County. It was the largest donation the SPCA received in 2013 and while most groups would call it a day after that, ChiveMD was just getting started. They continued to party their faces off in the name of charity by raising $25,000 in local initiatives and then raised a whopping $30,000 for Chive Charities on New Year's Eve of 2014.
In the summer of 2013, we were putting together an official meetup in Arizona to raise money for the families of the 19 elite Granite Mountain Hotshots of Yarnell, AZ, who lost their lives fighting a wild fire. As we began working on the event, we linked up with the local Chive Chapter, Chive on AZ, to help get everything set. Almost immediately we knew these guys were legit. They not only helped lock in the location, but they brought in sponsors, an entire marching band, and created shirts to also raise money for charity. Since then, Chive on AZ has been a standout chapter.
Chive on Cali is the result of a merge between Chive on LA and Chive on San Diego. LA was established in May of 13′ as a means to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings. Chive on San Diego followed suit shortly after. Since then, both chapters have put in incredible work and made some huge strides in their respective communities. Together they've raise over $50,000 for Chive Charities and continue to help out on a local level.
Since its inception, ACC and its committed admin team have RAKd more than $120,000 in donations. They continue to operate as one big family who love to support each other. The AAC continually opens its doors and rolls out the red carpet for anyone and everyone. This group takes a lot of pride in their city. Plus, they love every opportunity they get to share their pride with the entirety of Chive Nation. If Chivers visit the Atlanta area, the AAC insist they would be honored to hug some necks, to raise some glasses, and to make more than a few incredible memories!
Established in March of 2013, Chive On Chicago is a community of 3,000 and composed of members from all walks of life. First responders, veterans, nurses, tradesmen, artists, and misfits all call this chapter home. In 2014, Chive On Chicago was selected to be branded as a Bona Fide chapter in Chive Nation. To date — through annual events like Kiss Me I'm CHIVErish, Midwest Madness, as well as monthly fundraisers — they've raised more than $250,000. As always, their efforts are truly to make the world 10% happier. They've shown absolutely no signs of stopping!
Once Chive On Iowa started getting more requests for meetups all over the state — including in Cedar Rapids, Ames, Cedar Falls and Sioux City — it was obvious that many Iowans were prepared to help the little guy. With the assistance of Iowa Chivers and their continued support, they became a Bona Fide chapter. The beauty of Chive On Iowa is that it doesn't matter where folks are from: they all join as one as Chivers. This chapter tries to keep a smalltown feel as they make a big impact around their state. Highlighted events include Midwest Madness, Hazzard County, Ostrich Open Golf Tourney, and Sioux City.
Minnesota originally had two Chive chapters, but after those groups merged, their Bona Fide status soon followed. Since then, Chive Minnesota has featured several amazing events and they will continue to do so, including an annual meetup in Duluth, a golf tournament, and a New Year's Eve party. They also host volunteer and community outreach opportunities at least once per month. When Chive Minnesota parties, they party hard and always with a purpose!
What started as a small group of friends going to a bar has grown into a community that spans the greater Seattle area with 5,000 members. Chive On Seattle's work ranges from family-friendly gatherings at beaches and parks to large fundraising events at some of Seattle's favorite bars. Since Chive On Seattle was founded in 2013, they have raised more than $100,000 for national and local recipients in need. Chive On Seattle continues to make the world 10% happier by volunteering at local agencies and hosting annual events like Chive-O-Ween and SEAnanigans.
Since February of 2013, the Nashville Chapter has consistently remained one of the most close-knit chapters in the country, meeting every few weeks to raise a glass and change lives. Since their humble beginnings, Nashville Chive has thrown countless meetups and raised more than $120,000 for charity. Most recently, they bared it all for the Cupids Undie Run and raised more than $68,000 for the Children’s Tumor Foundation!
OK Chive is the first Bona Fide chapter that is comprised of eight state subchapters. These parts retain their autonomy while using the larger chapter to promote teamwork. The individual chapters work together to create a legacy. When the sun goes down, OK Chive is ready to have a good time for all worthy causes. In less than three years, they have impacted their community with unstoppable generosity, raising more than $110,000 for local causes and Chive Charities.
Michigan is know for its tough, hard-working residents — and the Michigan Chivers are no exception. Since their inception, Michigan Chivers have bought a wheelchair-accessible van for a young gentleman who craved adventure, threw an amazing concert for veterans looking to get back on their feet, held a superheroes’ gala benefitting their own superhero, and have put lots of time and money into many different charities. From monthly brewery meetups to yearly meetups with the Detroit Red Wings, this group doesn't stop. The Michigan Chivers have raised more than $170,000 for charity to date!
One of theCHIVE’s main goals is to bring the online community offline and the biggest way Chivers have done it is through unofficial meetups.
There are dozens of meetups each weekend, all of them bonkers, all for a good cause. Get in on the action and find one near you here.
